
STATE OF NEW JERSEY EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT

WHEREAS, on September 28, 2008, the Polish American Congress will hold a memorial service in honor of the Port Authority officers, Police officers, Firefighters, EMS responders, and federal agents who lost their lives in the line of duty; and
WHEREAS, the courage, dedication and devotion to duty demonstrated by these men and women, who made the ultimate sacrifice so that citizens might be secure in their persons and property, manifests the highest and most noble traditions of public service; and
WHEREAS, on September 11, 2001, numerous civilians also lost their lives by simply going to work or traveling that day, and demonstrated courage and compassion to their fellow citizens by their heroic acts of bravery; and
WHEREAS, it is altogether fitting and proper to officially recognize the heroism and self sacrifice of all who lost their lives, and take this occasion to honor the men and women engaged in public service activities throughout New Jersey for their outstanding public service and their willingness to give their last full measure of devotion so that citizens may live in peace and safety;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JON S. CORZINE, Governor of the State of New Jersey, In recognition of this event do hereby proclaim
SEPTEMBER 11, 2008 AS
REMEMBRANCE DAY
in New Jersey, and urge all to join in remembering those heroes whose service, sacrifice, and significant contributions are in the proudest tradition of our countnJ.
