Dear Mr. Nowak and Mr. Wnekowicz:
Thank you for your letter to President Bush inviting him to a memorial service honoring the victims of the Katyn Forest Massacre and of9/11 in Jersey City, New Jersey on
September 28, 2008.
As President Bush has said, America will never forget those who were lost on that fateful day. We will continue to be inspired by the heroic deeds, compassion, and patriotism of our fellow citizens on that day and in the days since. The President has taken important steps to protect our country from terrorism. He remains grateful for the millions of Americans at home and abroad who sacrifice to make our world more secure .
Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts, the President is unable to attend your event.
However, we have forwarded your letter to the Office of Presidential Correspondence for consideration of a message. He asked me to thank you for thinking of him and to convey his best wishes for a successful event.
Sincerely,

Assistant to the President
